Hoop Dawgs Stun Gators!

Congratulations to Coach Mark Fox and his "Hardwood Hounds" for their thrilling and much needed 78-76 win over the Florida Gators.  Florida sauntered in to Stegeman Coliseum with a 20-9 overall record and a 9-5 SEC record compared to UGA's 12-14 overall record (now 13-14) and 4-8 (now 5-9) SEC record.
It didn't matter the records and usually never does when these two hated teams meet.  Georgia hungry for a win looked more focused and determined for a win shooting 57% compared to UF's 46% from the floor.  At one point Georgia went on a 15-2 run and led Florida 45-30 at the half.
Florida did come fighting back though and with 5:46 left in the match-up Florida had closed the gap and stayed within 2 for most of the game.  UF decided not to foul, play defense and force Georgia to take a shot right around the 13 second mark.  Florida put themselves in contention to tie or win the game with just 13 seconds left; however, UGA's defense proved to be too much and the DAWGS and Coach Fox came away with yet another one of their unpredictable upsets this season.
It is evident that Coach Fox has his Dawgs on the right path and we wish them luck in their upcoming match-up against those Wildcats from Kentuck on March 3rd.
     GOOOOOOOOOOOO  DAWGS!!!!

What's Better than seeing a Gator in Pinstripes?

Apparently Florida redshirt freshman defensive tackle Gary Brown's Mom didn't teach him not to lay his hands on women.  Brown was charged with  two counts of misdemeanor battery on Saturday while in attendance of a party near Gainesville, Florida.
Brown not only laid his hands on one, but two females who were hosting the same party that Brown was attending.  Due to the party getting out of control the two females were trying to kick people out of their party when Brown took it upon himself to slap one in the face and the other across the arms. (Stay Classy Florida)  Neither female rquired medical attention.
So the answer to "What's better than seeing a Gay-tor in Pinstripes?"...............

That's right only  201 days until we kick off the 2010 season and 257 days until Georgia vs. Florida!!!     Gooooooo Dawgs!     GATA!

Lane Kiffin Convicted of Robbery

WOW!  While Lane Kiffin's time at UT was short lived it's clearly evident that Nu'Keese Richardson's skills in the robbery business rubbed off on Ol' Kiffy.  Lane Kiffin has officially accepted a verbal offer from a 13 year old from Bear, Deleware, and officially been convicted of "Robbing the Cradle."
ESPN is reporting that Kiffin received a verbal commitment from 13-year-old quarterback David Sills. Yes, the kid is just 13.  http://Now don't get me wrong the kid does look amazing, but let's be honest here, "How long before Kiffy gets a whiff of a higherpaying "dream job" and bolts USC just like he did ol' Rocky Flop?"
Sills, from Bear, Del., has been working with Steve Clarkson, a personal coach who has mentored some of the top quarterbacks in the country, including current Trojans signal-caller Matt Barkley.  "His skill set is off the chart," Clarkson told ESPN. "I've never seen anyone at his age do what he's been able to do."
Kiffin reached out to the quarterbacks guru to get an opinion on a recruit for next year's class, according to the article posted on ESPN.com. Clarkson then encouraged the coach to check out video of the young prospect circulating on YouTube.  Apparently Kiffin liked what he saw of the seventh-grader from Red Lion Christian Academy, and took a verbal committment from the 13 year old to attend USC in 2015.
We'll keep our eyes on this youngster and wish him the best!  (Until he signs with anyone other than the DAWGS!)

Belin Rounds Out Defensive Coaching Hires

The newest "Dawg" has been announced and that final Coaching spot finally filled.  Warren Belin, former Vanderbilt linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator, has joined Coach Todd Grantham and Coach Scott Lakatos to fill the three previously vacant spots left behind by CWM, Fabris, and Jancek.
Belin spent eight years with the 'Dores as their linebackers coach as well as their recruiting coordinator.  He also was Vandy's special teams coordinator from 06-07, and in my personal opinion, one of the reasons I believe he fit the mold that CMR and CTG were looking for.
Belin attended Wake Forest and was a three-year starter and four-year letterman at Wake Forest from 1987-90. He was named to the ACC All-Academic Team in 1990.  Coach Belin is well known for his knowledge of the game, schematics, and football fundamentals.  Not only is he smart when it comes to football, but also academics as he was a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipient, and he earned his B.S. in Health and Sports Science from Wake Forest, while graduating cum laude.
This hire will defeinately help us in the recruiting area with Coach Belin's experience as Vanderbilt'srecruiting coordinator.  It may also come in handy somewhere down the road if Coach Gardner decides to move on to greener pasture.  All in all sounds like a solid hire!
